Hamilton Heritage…    So many interesting details are evident as Northbound CP #255 slowly makes its way past Hamilton Station, and about to enter the Hunter Street Tunnel. The Connolly 30-storey condo tower will integrate the facade of the 134 year old the former James Street Baptist Church, as construction progresses. James St. has been converted from one-way Southbound to two-way; fortunately the new bridge signage has not covered the TH&B RY logo. Lastly, SOO #6037 has yet to be painted in CP action red.

We’re not in Kansas, as a Northbound colourful CP tank train crosses the Progreston Bridge on the CP Hamilton Sub, approaching Guelph Junction. The UP 5550 leads Kansas City Southern Railway (KCS) 4166 SD70ACe, no CP units were present.

CN train #435 grinds its way up the Dundas Hill at M2 (York Road), with a GE Model C40-8M “Draper Taper” full width carbody unit in the lead, still with the Zebra stripe paint scheme.

The base of block signal 020S (above) has an interesting surprise, as the base is stocked with various knuckles (Type E & F), occasional they break under the stress of the hill climb. Designed to be the weakest link in the train, they are field replaceable by the crew should a pull apart occur.

The crossover switches at Paris Junction were replaced in 2016, with Nortrak prefabricated switch track panels, making for an interesting load on special flat cars.

Enjoy,
